How does one uninstall this? Need to uninstall to resolve some conflicts before reinstalling

commented May 10, 2015

This command should tell you the files related to 360Controller:

Just copy and paste into the Terminal

There will be an uninstall button inside the preference pane in the new version; as per issue #54 (and eee7beb).

Here is the latest beta version of 0.15 which has this (I think, I'm still hoping on backwards comparability).

(you may need to restart once after installation)

How to uninstall the driver? #104

commented Jun 20, 2015

3-4 days ago I wanted to re-install the driver as I'm having issues with a specific game (since their last update).

I'm not able to uninstall:

Additional note:
Before installing this ...preview.pkg version (weeks ago), I did not manually uninstall the previous version. Could this be the reason for this error?

Edit:
There is also a minor issue with enabling the driver. I think I triggered this one myself though by unchecking, cancelling the pw the system asked me to put in (to confirm), then checking (checkmark was gone) again, leading to pw cancel as I at the end wasn't sure if I was enabling or disabling now.
I don't know what happens when confirming as I cancelled. Just thought you might want to know.

in case the upload doesn't show:

Enabling and disabling is not that reliable right now.

Please do this:

  • remove all xbox hardware connected to your mac
  • restart your mac
  • uninstall

After that you can install the latest driver and the disable option should work for you. I think :P
If not, at last you uninstalled properly.

Cheers!

Thanks!
I went with the command you've posted earlier (was easier than I thought :D )
pkgutil --files 'com.mice.pkg.Xbox360controller'

and installed it again. The issue with the game didn't get solved. I'm waiting for their support to answer (Valve/Steam). Went with Bootcamp now. Feels kinda like a loss :/

btw -> restart/uninstall did not work. Showed the same error-button.
Sadly can't provide anything now to help you guys I guess?

Note For information about how to install the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, see How to set up an Xbox 360 Controller for Windows.

Windows 8.1

On a computer running Windows 8.1, you can use Devices and Printers in Control Panel to troubleshoot the controller. Here’s how:

  1. On the Start screen, select Control Panel.
  2. Select View Devices and Printers.
  3. Verify that the controller appears under Devices, and then right-click the controller and select Game controller settings.
  4. Check the Status of the controller, and then select Properties.
  5. On the Test tab, test that the controller works correctly. If there are any issues, select Calibrate on the Settings tab.
  6. If you continue to experience any issues, right-click the controller under Devices in Devices and Printers, and then select Troubleshoot.

Windows 7 and earlier versions of Windows

Download Xbox 360 Controller Driver

On Windows 7 and earlier versions of Windows, you can use Device Manager to help troubleshoot problems with your controller, see whether the correct items are listed, and to make sure there are no conflicts.

Note A conflict is marked by a yellow exclamation point in Device Manager.

To use Device Manager, follow these steps:

Remove Xbox 360 Controller Driver From Mac Pro

  1. Select Start, then Run, then type sysdm.cpl, and then select OK.
  2. On the Hardware tab, select Device Manager.
  3. When the controller is successfully installed, you see three entries in Device Manager. There should be two entries under Human Interface Devices:
    • HID-compliant game controller
    • USB Human Interface Device
Additionally, there should be a third entry in under Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class:
    • Xbox 360 Controller for Windows
  4. If you see yellow exclamation points next to any of these entries, there's a problem with the installation. If there's a problem for either of the entries under Human Interface Devices, first verify that the problem is caused by the controller by unplugging it. If a hardware conflict with the controller was causing the problem, the yellow exclamation point will no longer appear after the controller is unplugged.

To resolve controller problems in Device Manager, try these solutions one at a time (move to the next solution only if the one you’re trying fails to resolve your problem):

  1. Use the built-in troubleshooter:
    1. In Device Manager, double-click Xbox 360 Controller for Windows.
    2. Select Troubleshoot, and then follow the steps provided.
  2. Remove and then redetect the controller:
    1. Right-click Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, and then select Uninstall.
    2. In the Action menu, select Scan for hardware changes.
  3. Try updating the driver:
    1. Double-click Xbox 360 Controller for Windows.
    2. On the Driver tab, select Update Driver.
